Every day, people ask us how we got started in the candy world. Simply put, we have both always loved candy since we were kids and especially since we have been together.
When we first started dating, Shana would bring Jay a special bag of treats whenever we would go out to a movie, travel or celebrate special occasions. Our bond was strengthened over many bags of Sour Cherry Cola bottles (Jay's favorite) and Swedish Fish (Shana's favorite). When we traveled, we would always search for new and exotic sweets and treats, compiling lists of all our favorites. We share many common bonds, but those formed over a Gummi Candy mix may be among the strongest.
As we prepared for our wedding, we wanted to do something special for our guests. Looking for a way to incorporate our mutual affection for sweets, we decided to create a candy buffet for our friends and family. We spent a lot of time researching, sourcing and carefully selecting a beautiful and colorful mix of treats. We kept the buffet a secret until our speech, when we had a grand reveal (the table was kept behind a screen during the evening). We were thrilled to see the excitement that filled the room as our guests flocked to the buffet.
Our guests reminisced over candy they hadn't seen in years, marveled at new favorites and filled their favor containers to ensure they could take a sweet treat home with them. From the flower girls to the grandparents, everyone loved the candy buffet.
Over the weeks and months after our wedding, almost every time we talked to one of our guests, we heard comments about the candy buffet. People marveled at how beautiful, creative and delicious it was. Everyone wanted to know whose idea it was and how they could get one for their own special events. Since we had become experts in candy buffets, we decided to create a custom candy catering business. We've both always been entrepreneurial and we wanted to share our love of candy and design with other people on their special days. We spent many months researching, sourcing and (most importantly!) tasting the best candy options in the world, in order to bring you the finest options available.
That is how The Sweet Spot came to be. Everybody loves a little something sweet, and we are so happy to help people fulfill their sweetest dreams!
